First Day of School

Arrive at School 8:15
- Junior High Students report to the Corpus Christ Office to receive your class schedule cards.
- High School Students report to the Gym to receive your class schedule cards.
- Once you have your schedule all students should report to the Gym for the opening school assembly. PLEASE NOTE: some changes may have been made to your schedule, please follow the schedule that is on your card.
- 1st DAY IS 3PM DISMISSAL!!
What to Bring on the First Day?
- Backpack with Notebook/Paper, Pens/Pencils, File Folder for handouts
- Lunch (No hot lunch will be sold until Monday, August 25th))
Important Reminders for Drop off and Pick up and for our Student Drivers
We have to remember that we are in the middle of a neighborhood, and therefore we want to be respectful of our neighbors. There are a couple of things that we ask of you to help make picking up your children a smoother experience for everyone.
- Please communicate with your children the night before on when and where you will be picking them up. As you will notice, there will be a lot of kids outside at once, so if they know when to expect you, then hopefully they will be ready to jump in.
- When pulling into the parking lot, please pull all the way forward to the beginning of the lot.
- We know it may take a minute for your child to find you and get in, however, if part of your carpool has to go find the other children, then we ask you to be considerate to the long line behind you and circle around. When the flow comes to a dead stop, our school traffic completely blocks Maple street which is not good. We want to stay on good terms with our neighbors.
- Please, never park your car in the carpool line and come into the school. If you have to come in, we ask you to park in a parking space or down the street.
- Please DO NOT drop off or pick up your children in the adjacent streets. Not only does this hold up the traffic, but more importantly, it is unsafe to have kids crossing the streets in the middle of traffic.
- Please speak to your kids about looking before they run in front of the cars in the parking lot.
- Drop off should not be made before 7:45am. The first bell always rings by 8:15.
Start of the School Year Announcement from our Director
Dear Seton Community,
Welcome back!
Please keep Sarah Kramer, mother of Colette, Penny, Cora, and Rebecca in your prayers. She has been diagnosed with colon cancer and will have surgery on Thursday, August 21. Please pray for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.
To celebrate the Jubilee Year of the Catholic Church, on October 13th (Columbus Day), Seton School will have a school-wide pilgrimage to The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. All families are invited to join us. Bus transportation will be provided for students and staff. We will celebrate a special Mass in the crypt church, seek to earn a plenary indulgence, visit the Holy Doors and have opportunities for confession. Please keep an eye out for more detailed information to follow in the next few weeks. We ask that each family RSVP in a timely manner so that our resources are not wasted reserving more bus space than needed..
REMINDER: The Seton cell phone policy states that only Juniors and Seniors may carry cellphones on their person during school hours (they must be turned off). If a student must leave a classroom during a class period, all Juniors/Seniors must put their phone on the teacher’s desk. Some teachers may have a cell phone storage system and may require students use this system while in his/her class. Thank you for speaking to your children about respecting these rules.
Many Seton parents choose to not purchase their children cell phones for several different reasons. All students must respect the God-given role of parents. Students should never sell or give a cell phone to another student at Seton. Any students that do so will be suspended or expelled.
For the safety of all students there are areas of the school that are off limits to students during lunch:
Students are allowed behind the school/chapel ONLY IF THERE IS A TEACHER PRESENT.
No student should be sitting in front of or on the sides of the CCC building or on the semi-circle platform in front of the gym on Quarry Road. Students in these areas are not visible to lunch monitors
Students may sit in front of the main school, go to the gym, or pay a visit to the Chapel during lunch.
Make-up test/quizzes will be available in Stein (the computer lab) during 5th and 6th periods starting on Tuesday, September 2.
Please be respectful of school property. We are all called to be stewards of the gifts with which we are blessed. We are so grateful to the many families that have spent countless hours cleaning and preparing the school for this school year. Do not vandalize rooms or lockers by using permanent markers or any other writing utensils on them. We enjoy thoughtfully decorated lockers however, please remember each student will be responsible for returning the locker to the school in the condition in which it is received.

A Message from Our Executive Director
WELCOME to Seton’s 51st year. As we move into our second half century, we must follow the words of Bishop Burbidge and keep Jesus Christ at the center of all that we do. This Sentinel offers many opportunities to do exactly that.
HONOR OUR LADY: One of the surest ways to honor Jesus is to honor His Mother. Our second annual summer living Rosary offers us the opportunity to show our love for her and thereby love her Son. The Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, August 13, at 7:00 PM in the Chapel backyard. Students will lead the Rosary. The Rosary will be followed by Benediction in the Chapel. Please bring the whole family and invite your friends.
VIRTUE OF THE YEAR: The virtue of the year, selected by members of the Student Government Service Committee, is temperance. Temperance is defined as “the virtue which moderates in us the inordinate desire for sensible [attractive to our senses] pleasure, keeping it within the limits assigned by reason and faith.” (Divine Intimacy). Through this virtue, we can enjoy and appreciate the sensible gifts God has created, without their becoming out of control or standing in the way of their Creator. Temperance “heals and elevates our nature by re-establishing in us the harmony which was destroyed by sin.” In future Sentinels, we will explore this beautiful virtue further.
TEMPERANCE IN PRACTICE: One area where temperance is needed in our modern culture is in the use of AI, social media, and screens of all kinds. To that end we will continue the practice, begun last year, of screen-free First Fridays. Each First Friday of the month will be a screen-free day on the Seton campus, including before and after school. September 5 is our first screen-free day. Making this small sacrifice will help us to grow in the virtue of temperance and give us the grace to resist the temptation of being attached to our screens.
ALL NIGHT ADORATION: This year we will also continue the practice of All Night Adoration in the Seton chapel once each quarter. Temperance is needed here, especially for those who attend during the late night, early morning hours. The sacrifice that we make to spend this time with Jesus will bring us closer to Him and fill us with the joy that only He can give. Our first All-Night Adoration will be announced soon.
Seton Standards of Dress/Hair Requirements
The start of our 51st school year is right around the corner! As our students grow into mature Christian young adults, we encourage them to grow in personal discipline; both spiritual and physical. Please take a moment to check:
– Does everyone’s shoes and uniform still fit? (the uniform closet in Corpus Christi is well stocked),
– Does hair meet Seton requirements – refer to the Seton Handbook, Chapter VIII,
– Gentlemen are to be clean shaven with shirts tucked,
– Seton is a “no-phone zone” with no cell phone use bell to bell and only supervised use at other times. Face to face encounters are better than face to screen, refer to the Cell Phone Policy in the Handbook.
– Students are encouraged to make a habit of regular visits to the Seton Chapel and encounter our loving Lord.
